Commentaires : | Ms. McCallen donated this set of millinery supplies on behalf of her mother, Mrs. Hanka (Henriette) Braun. Mrs. Braun worked as a milliner in Europe, including Paris, before moving to Kitchener in the 1940's. She and her husband Joseph lived on Karn St. for a time. Mrs. Braun worked for Miss Elizabeth E. Berlet's Exclusive Millinery (17 Queen St. S.), and for Miss Eva Wesley at Wesley Millinery (26 Queen St. N.). She then opened Henriette's Hats, sometime between 1945 and 1956. Her shop was situated at 123 1/2 Frederick St., and later at 74 Queen St. S. All three milliners' shops were closed by 1970. |
