Commentaires : This rope was used by 'Professor' Andrew Jenkins when he crossed Niagara Falls with a bicycle on a rope, circa 1869. Andrew Jenkins was from Branchton, North Dumfries Township. From Taylor, Our Todays and Yesterdays: The 1866 proprietor of the Branchton Inn was soon to become famous in another field. Under the title of 'Professor Andrew Jenkins' he was thrilling vast crowds with his feats as an acrobat and tightrope walker. In 1869, he rode a bicycle on a stout rope stretched across Niagara Falls. Later he was given a gold medal for his exploits at an even wider gorge at Rocky River, near Cleveland, Ohio, in 1871. His greatest indoor performances were at Montreal Gardens in Montreal. He was known as the Canadian Blondin.
