Description : | This black and white photograph of Nancy Greene (centre) shows the alpine skiier posing with French skiiers Christine Beranger (left) and Florence Stuerer (right). Green is holding up the French skiiers' hats as they smile. The three athletes are dressed in ski outfits, including white pinnys, and are resting their skiis against their shoulders. A newspaper caption attached to the top of the photograph notes that the three women competed in the North American Giant Slalom Championships that day in Franconia, N.H.; Beranger placed first, Stuerer placed second, and Greene placed third. |
Fonctions : | During the 1967 season, Greene won three straight races to win the World Cup title. Greene dominated the racing scene the next year. At the Olympics, Greene captured a gold medal in the giant slalom and a silver medal in the slalom event. For the second consecutive year Greene won the World Cup title by winning 9 straight races. She was awarded the Order of Canada in 1967 and named Athlete of the Year in 1968.
