The four top drawers are approximately 9 1/4 inches wide and just under 2 inches deep. The three lower drawers are 3 3/8 inches deep. The outer ones are 11 inches long while the centre one is 15 inches. Ends, back, and base have not been painted. Carcass and the drawers are carefully dovetailed and nails used sparingly. Several early rose headed ones attach the back.
Commentaires : This piece is original to the MacDonald Farm Historic Site. This piece, although in good condition and fit for display, is not in its entirety. It is believed to have been a section of a writing desk in it's earliest day. The piece appears much less elegant than the pieces in English-Canadian Furniture of the Georgian period however it appears as though it may have been the inner section of the traditional slant front desk.
