Description : An 'End of Day' glass dish with lid. (a) The dish has a pedestal base with a splash work pattern design in red and black. The bowl portion of the dish is yellow, with red and black splash work making its way up the sides. The top of the dish comes in and creates a lip to connect with the lid. (b) The lid is round and is yellow with the same red and black splash work pattern as the dish. The splash work covers the top of the lid and handle. The handle is in the centre of the lid and ends in a rounded point.
Fonctions : End of Day' usually means that at the end of the day in a glass making factory, colourful remnants are combined together to create a unique piece. The amount left over determines the size of the piece.

Built 1835-37, Ireland House was the home of Joseph Ireland, one of Burlington's earliest settlers. He emigrated from Bowes, Yorkshire, England in 1819 and petitioned for land at Oakridge Farm. The farm changed hands over three generations, from Joseph to his son John, followed by John's son George. Ireland House was occupied by Joseph and his descendants up until 1985.
