| Description : | Hand colored photograph of Adelaide Outhouse, appearing to have been produced on canvas. The picture frame is constructed so that the photo is contained in a frame within a frame. The mid-section is similar in style to the shadow box construction of 2017.63.7&.8. The frame is made of wood with a blonde veneer around the outer edge of the frame, and carved brown wooden decoration surrounding the inner section of the frame. No colour instructions are recorded on the back. A vacuum cleaner edge tool, with minimal suction employed, was used to go around the outside of the frame back, where the picture is inserted, so as to gather as much dirt as possible. Two silverfish were discovered within the frame. The glass dies not fully extend over the picture. The right corner needs repair, and the back needs structural support. Adelaide was born Oct. 20, 1881 and died July 19, 1899. Never married. Number '87' written on frame reverse, blue pencil. |
