Description : Waist 30.5" to 32". Waistband 1.5" wide with 8 on one side and 4 hooks on other closure to allow for small or large waist. Placket is 8.5" with miter corner to close properly. Dress fabric and muslin lining were sewn together before skirt was made. Skirt is 40.75" long. Front is straight cut with 2 side darts. Center back has 4 deep folds on each side of closure. Heavy pellon 7.75" wide is hand sewn to lower hem for stiffening. On top of the pellon a 2.25" wide black velvet band is sewn.
Fonctions : Dress was designed and made by Isabel in a Costume Sewing Class held in Wolfville Sept. 1991-92 in preparation for Wolfville Centennial held in 1993. The instructor was Ken Nye of Bridgetown. Classes were held in Wolfville High School. Materials were purchased at Sewing Basket in Wolfville and cost approx. $100. Isabel (Haverstock) Moulton was a graduate of Acadia. She taught Home Ec. She and her husband, Gerald, retired to Wolfville. He died. She remarried - Wood, summer of 1999. She donated her costume, corset and wedding dress of 1954 just before moving to Charlottetown and then to Kingston, Ontario. (*Isabel modelled her costume 19 April 1993 - Collage of Historical Costumes). Isabel b. 7 Aug 1930. Grad. Acadia BSc in Home Ec. 1951. Taught school north Sydney and Dartmouth m. 28 Aug 1954, Gerald Moulton.
