Description : | The bodice is completely lined with silk net. 4 large pleats start at the waist and form a large "V" extending over the shoulders and down the back bodice to another "V". There is a gathered silk piece of fabric at the upper waist which joins on to 8 rows of lace in the upper bodice, front and back. The dress has a high lace collar, 14 hooks and eyes from collar to waist. A "shawl" type over sleeve extends from the pleats at the shoulders. The under sleeve is gathered to not under bodice and has 5 rows of lace at the cuffs. There are 3 rows of gathering at the waist. The dress has a wide hem with 5 rows of horizontal pintucks. |
Fonctions : | Ella Young (daughter of William and Margaret [Rand]). Young lived in the Fairview Farm on Church St. Ella was one of 10 children. She married Brouard Mackenzie. Ella's great grandfather was Leander Rand MPP. She wore this dress when she was 12. |
