Fonctions : | Kathleen Agnes Sayers ne‚ Colloton (Dec 6 1906 -1981) was Geoffrey Harris Sayers' wife. She was the eldest daughter of Reginald Brock Colloton and Ethel Mary Ward. Geoffrey and Kay married in 18 November 1933 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Erindale. Kay and Geoff had no children and were the last family members to live in Benares House. They occupied Benares from 1969 until 1981. This jewellery was part of Kay Sayers Estate and was donated by Geoffrey Sayers. Many of these pieces were originally from inheritances through the Harris and Draper families. Many of these pieces were originally from inheritances through the Harris and Draper families.Large lockets with heavy chains became very fashionable in the 1870's and were the most popular fashion ornament for everyday wear. Lockets were oversized to accommodate photographs that were difficult to reduce at that time although they were also used to hold the hair of a loved one. Often the style was "architectural" and very heavy and usually worn high up on the chest. Lockets were also worn by children and by men usually in the form of a watch fob. |
