Description : A white, milk glass decorative plate with open, 'arch' border. In the centre is a raised relief depicting: Cupid with bow and arrow poised to 'strike' a woman's heart. She is protecting her heart, and fending off Cupid.
Fonctions : This milk glass was manufactured by the Westmoreland Glass Company. The Westmoreland Glass Company, founded 1889 in Grapeville, Pennsylvania, produced pressed glass, condiment jars, and candy containers; and was headed by brothers George and Charles West. The company reorganized after the Great War and focused on high quality glassware, including their signature product: milk glass. Over 90% of their production consisted of milk glass between ca. 1920 -1950. One of their best known designs (hen in a basket) was made from more delicate milk glass than their later designs in the 1940s. The company closed its doors 21 May 1984. Other glass manufactures (such as: Summit Art Glass, Viking Glass, Blenko, etc) purchased the Westmoreland glass moulds, and the moulds are still being utilized in today's glass wear production
