Description : | Two small newspaper clippings taken from a unknown newspaper in 1933. Both clippings are rectangular shaped and printed in black ink. They read: 'Geoff Sayers and Kay Colloton are going to live in Clarkson aft their wedding the middle of next month. . . Their new home has just been started . . . Their wedding will take place in St. Peter's church in Erindale, that quaint little church perched on a hill, of which, incidentally, Geoff's great grandfather, Rev. Mr. McGrath [sic], was founder'. |
Fonctions : | Clipping taken from a uknown newspaper but was kept with other articles that provided details on the wedding of Geoffrey and Kathleen in 1933. Geoffrey Harris Sayers (1907-1997) was the son of Annie Harris and Beverly Sayers of Clarkson. He was also the eldest grandchild of Arthur and Mary Harris of Benares. He would go on to marry Kathleen Agnes Colloton (1906-1981). She was the daughter of Reginald Brock Colloton and Ethel Mary Ward. The two married on November 18th 1933 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Erindale, which the Harris family had been members for almost a hundred years. Geoff and Kay occupied Benares from 1969 until 1981 as tenants when the property was donated to the Ontario Heritage Foundation. They kept a small display of artifacts in the kitchen, and opened up the house once a year to the public. Kay and Geoffrey never had any children and were the last Harris relatives to live at Benares. |
