Description : | A large black and white photograph of three ladies dressed in historic costume at the front of Bradley House. Perspective is the front of the house, west of the door. Foreground shows a lady wearing a striped dress and a fancy cap. Sweeping the front step with a corn broom. The background shows Mercia Harrison talking to a woman who is standing behind the window. Mercia is wearing a black dress with a printed apron and a fancy cap. She is holding a reticule in her hand. The lady standing behind the window is wearing a shawl and a fancy cap. Marked on the back of the photograph in ink is the following: '35 Thorncliffe Pk, Dri. TOR 17 Apt 1016'. |
Fonctions : | Mercia E. Harrison was born in Toronto and joined the Canadian Red Cross in the early 1940s. During World War II she went overseas to help bring the `war brides' home and was actively involved with the organization working with blood transfusions. Later she was involved with driving people around from the Toronto headquarters of the organization. Both her and her husband, Robert Harrison, were involved with Bradley Museum; Merica served for one time as the President of The Mississauga Historical Foundation in the early 80s. She also worked as an antique dealer. |
