| Description : | Two piece box from T. Eaton. The lid is covered in orange paper. There is a printed picture on the lid framed in gold. Within the frame is an image of a store and the words: 'The Original Store, 1869'. Printed in the lower left portion of the frame is '1869. Printed in the lower right portion of the frame is '1919'. There is a printed blue ribbon and bow running diagonally along the box lid. The bottom of the box is covered in an off-white paper covering.";"Boîte de deux pièces, issue de l'entreprise «T. Eaton». Le couvercle est couvert de papier orange. L'image d'un magasine figure sur le couvercle entouré d'un cadre doré avec la phrase, en anglais : «Le magasin original, 1869». Au coin inférieur droit du cadre on retrouve l'an 1869, alors qu'au coin inférieur droit, on voit «1919». Un ruban et boucle bleues sont imprimés en diagonale sur le couvercle de la boîte. Le fond de la boîte est recouvert de papier blanc cassé. |
| Fonctions : | Items donated by Barbara Sayers Larson. Barbara Larson is the daughter of Annie Harris (1882-1986) and Beverly Sayers (1882-1976) and granddaughter of Arthur (1843-1932) and Mary (1859-1954) Harris. Barbara was born January 27, 1920 and was the youngest of three children. Barbara and her siblings, Geoffrey Sayers (1907-1997) and Dora Sayers Caro (1915-2004) donated Benares to the Ontario Heritage Foundation in 1969 after inheriting it from their aunt, Naomi Harris (1883-1968). Many of the items donated by Barbara originally belonged to her mother or Aunt Naomi and came from Benares. Barbara lived in a log cabin originally given to her by her grandparents at 1723 Birchwood Drive. She still maintains a close tie with Benares and is now living in Kelowna, British Columbia, with her daughter.";" Les articles sont un don de Barbara Sayers Larson. Barbara, son frère Geoffrey (1907-1997) et sa soeur Dora Sayers Caro (1915-2004) ont donné la maison Benares à la Fondation du patrimoine ontarien en 1969. Beaucoup d'articles donnés par Barbara avaient jadis appartenu à sa mère ou à sa tante Naomi et proviennent de Benares. Barbara habitait une maison en rondins que ses parents avaient reçu de ses grands-parents. La résidence se trouve au 1723 Birchwood Drive. Barbara maintient un lien avec Benares et habite aujourd'hui avec sa fille à Kelowna, Colombie-Britannique. |
