Fonctions : Beginning in 1975 the Mississauga Transit introduced computer-controlled bus operations through the Easy Rider system which included an automated telephone information system that provided updates to when buses were scheduled to arrive at a particular stop. In October 22 1977 ERICA (Easy Rider Information with Computerized Assistance) was introduced. This life sized model of a robot was placed at Square One Shopping mall and was connected to a telephone where riders would have accessed information whether bus routes were running on time or late through a high tech computer system placed on ERICA as well on various Mississauga buses. The robot resembled the R2 D2 character from the Star Wars movie which came out around the same time as ERICA was introduced.
