Description : A sepia photo mounted on thick white card. The photo measures 9.6 cm x 13.5 c m which gives a border of white card around the photo. At the bottom of the card the border is 2.7 cm deep and has _Hetherington, Guelph, Ont._ printed in red script. The photo is of a lady, Mrs. Harold Scholefield nee Eva Jennings. She is wearing a black dress (with bustle) which buttons down the front. The dress has long sleeves with 4 buttons on the cuffs. She is wearing a beaded necklace to which is attached a watch. Her other jewellery consists of bracelets and a ring. Her hair is parted down the middle with curly bangs. She is posed leaning on a rock which sits on top of a gatepost. In the foreground is a hammock, strung from left to right of the picture. Behind her is a background of flowers and leaves in an oval with clouds and a distant scene set in a partial frame. Beside the gate post is an arrangement of flowers in a basket with a handle. On the back of the photo in blue ink is written _Mrs. Harold Scholefield (Eva Jennings) of _Fontmeron, Lakeshore Rd._
Fonctions : S. J. Eva Scholefield (nee Jennings) was wife of Harold Scholefield who predeceased her. She had a sister, Eugene Jennings of Oakville and a brother Ernest Jennings of Colorado. Eva passed away Thursday July 19, 1945. Her memorial service was at St. Cuthberts Church and she was buried in St. Jude's Cemetery in Oakville. REF: Toronto Daily Star, Thurs, July 19, 1945 pg 45. According to Kathleen Hick's 'Clarkson' book, Eva's husband Harold was the first manager of George Gooderham's estate in Clarkson.
