Description : .1) The pad of bridge tally sheets has a series of 8 cartoons by an artist _Gebster_. The cartoons are drawn and painted in red/pink and beech/grey. Each cartoon has a typical argumentative/critical dialogue which may occur between bridge partners. Below the cartoon are three columns, each one divided into 2 columns headed "we" and "they". These are 16 pages left in the pad, about half the original number, which are held together with two staples at the top of the pad. The backing is of cardboard. A paper tape is used to cover the staples front and back. .2-.6) There are five loose scoring pages with a heading "Climax Scoring Tablet_. The pages are divided lengthwise into four columns, and crosswise into two, with a band left blank at the bottom. Written sideways marking the upper four columns is printed "Honours" . In the lower part is printed "Tricks". The blank part is to tally the totals and is labelled _Results_. The reverse is printed in light coloured ink with information on scoring with headings: "Bridge, Values of Tricks, Values of Honours".
Fonctions : The origin of bridge dates back to the early 16th century when the game was known as whist. Whist eventually evolved into bridge. It likely originated in the Middle East and was then developed by the British in India. The evolution of the game continued right into the 20th century. As sailors and immigrants crossed the Atlantic, they brought with them their cherished card games. Bridge first came to America in 1890 and the rules to the game underwent a drastic change soon thereafter. In 1925, while on a cruise, Harold S. Vanderbilt introduced the modern rules of bridge, also known as contact bridge, as we know it today.
