Description : Single-spaced typewritten research notes on half-sized paper. The text goes over onto the back of the page. In the top proper left corner is a reference: "Brock to Currie". The content relates the arrest, detention, and march to Toronto of a man named Durand in Streetsville by Captain Magrath of Springfield. Durand calls Capt. Magrath "a military snob - self important & dictatorial". He describes being crowded into a wagon with 3 or 4 other prisoners, held in the cold for an hour at Springfield, and then being taken to Toronto by men under orders to shoot the prisoners if any rescue of them was attempted on the way. The note ends with: "What a brute such a man was!!!". The reverse of the pages is a Geoffrey H. Sayers Insurance statement or invoice form.
Fonctions : This item is part of a box of original papers, transcripts, research notes, and newspaper clippings compiled and transcribed by Geoffrey and Kathleen Sayers. The notes and transcripts were written on the backs of papers related to Geoffrey's job in Insurance. Geoffrey's Grandmother's family, the Magrath's, were notable members of the community and the local Militia.
