Fonctions : Artifact from James Herbert Scott who worked at Orenda Engines. He was originally from Ireland and worked for the aviation company Short Brothers in Ireland as an apprentice before immigrating to Canada during the 1940s. He would go on to write the qualification examinations of the Association of Profession Engineers of Ontario to become a Mechanical Engineer in 1952. He was later hired by Avro Canada and worked as a Test Engineer in which he led the deign team for Orenda's test facility in Malton which was built in 1954. Orenda was a subsidiary of Avro. After the Diefenbaker Government cancelled the development of the CF-105 Avro Arrow, Bert was offered a job at NASA in the space program but declined. He joined Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) and began work with them in the Nuclear Power Plant Division in the Sheridan Park Research Centre in Mississauga. He worked in the Development Laboratory and later transferred to Procurement.;Orenda Engines, a subsidiary of A.V. Roe. Orenda Engines powered the CF-100 all-weather fighter of the RCAF as well as the F-86 Sabres built under license by Canadair in Montreal. Orenda engines also powered the Distant Early Warning RADAR sites across northern Canada.
