Description : | A postcard to Arthur Harris from his sister Annie Cox . The artwork is a bridge over a river. On the reverse, there is a green 1 cent Edward VII stamp. The card is postmarked: Paris Ontario, April 13, 1906. It is addressed to: "Mr. Harris, Benares, Clarkson Ontario". Handwritten in black ink: "Wishing all at Benares a Very Happy Easter, Annie Cox. |
Fonctions : | Postcard believed to have been sent to Arthur Harris from his sister Annie Cox. Annie Cox n‚e Harris (1846-1909) was the youngest daughter of Captain James Beveridge Harris (1797-1884) and Elizabeth Molony (1806-1884). She lived at Benares until 1875 when she married Peter Henry Cox (1852-1911) . Peter was 23 and Annie was 29 when they married. Annie and Peter lived in Paris, Ontario in a house called Claremont. Peter became the Mayor of Paris and both enjoyed a high standing in the community. Peter and Annie never had any children. Both continued to be frequent guests to Benares and maintained a close relationship with their nieces Naomi and Annie Harris. |
