Description : A half-page newspaper advertisement for "Fun and Frocks', a fashion show held Oct. 2 & 3, 1951. The show was sponsored by the Choir of First United Church in Port Credit featuring the Official Opening of their new auditorium.The fashions to be presented were by Mrs. Mary Fix who owned and operated a dress shop in Port Credit. Other sponsors also have advertisements on the same page: Armstrong Jewellers; Ball Beauty Salon; The Dress Shop (Mary Fix's); and Hooper's Pharmacy.
Fonctions : Article was kept by Mary Fix who had a collection of ephemera from various local newspapers that not only chronicled her life but also various events and issues in the Toronto Township and Town of Mississauga area. This article was an advertisement for a local event that Mary participated in. When Mary Fix moved to Port Credit in the 1930s she lived at 1608 Centre Road along with her husband Albert after his passing in 1945 she opened up the Cloverleaf Dress Shop. Mary was always interested in fashion as she previously worked as a European buyer for T. Eaton Company travelling to countries in Europe selecting ladies fashions.
