Description : | A handwritten document by Mary Fix in blue ink, reading: "Copy of my Telegraph to the Office of the Governor - General" and dated Oct 15, 1957. The telegraph states: "Having just listened to the interesting broadcast by his Royal Highness, the Prince Philip in regard to the industrial development, may I respectfully offer Her Gracious Majesty, our Queen, a copy of the film depicting the industrial progress of the Township of Toronto, which is Ontario's largest Township (stop) This film has just been accepted by the National Film Board for international distribution (stop) Her Majesty's subjects in this Township would deem it a great honour if she would accept this portrayal of our life and progress as a token of our love and loyalty." It is signed: Mary Fix (Mrs. Albert Fix), Reeve Township of Toronto, Cooksville, Ontario. |
Fonctions : | The film "The Cinderella Township" (1957) was produced by Ashley & Crippen Studio of Toronto as "a continuing campaign to attract new industry within" the township's borders. It was directed by Dan Gibson, scripted by Ken Armstrong, a resident of the Township for many years, and Joel Aldred, well-known commentator, did the narration.
