Fonctions : David Spencer Ltd was a chain of department stores that began in British Columbia. David Spencer was born in 1837 in South Wales and immigrated to British Columbia in 1862. In 1878 he opened up his first David Spencer department store on Government Street. A chain of stores would follow with much success until Spencer's was sold to Eaton's in 1948. During the early portion of the 1900s narrow feet were popular in style for both men and woman. This shoe is an example of a classic evening shoe for a woman. Evening shoes were often court shoes with small 'Louis' heels. These evening shoes would often been highly embellished with fine embroidery, thread, glass or jet beads.
