Description : | A small clipping from a newspaper printed on newsprint and in black ink. Reads: 'Harris - At her late residence, 584 Huron Street, Toronto, on November 13th, Lucy Letitia, daughter of the late Captain James B. Harris, of "Benares," Clarkson, Ont. Short service at 584 Huron Street on Monday, November, 16th at twelve o'clock, funeral at St. Peter's Church, Erindale, Ont., at 2pm. Please omit flowers.' A line underneath Lucy's name is marked underneath in pen while in pencil a note reads: 'Sat, Nov 14, 1925. |
Fonctions : | Clipping from Toronto Telegram from Saturday November 14, 1925. It was kept by Annie Sayers, eldest daughter of Arthur Harris and then later was kept by daughter Barbara Sayers Larson. Lucy Letitia Harris (1844-1925) was the third eldest daughter of Captain James Beveridge Harris and Elizabeth Molony and was sister to Arthur Harris. Lucky, along with Bessie lived at Benares until 1888 when they received a series of inheritances that allowed them to buy a house in a fashionable neighbourhood in Toronto. They were known as the Harris Aunts and enjoyed collecting antiques and various curiosities. They resided at a home located at 71 St. George Street and later lived on Huron Street. |
