Fonctions : Stephen and Sarah Crowther were market farmers who emigrated from Leeds England to Toronto in 1915. They lived in Toronto on land they purchased near Scarlett Road and Royal York Road. This house still stands and is a State Farm Insurance office today. Sarah and Stephen had two daughters, Mabel and Dorothy. Mabel, their daughter, attended Burnhamthorpe Public School in Dixie. She married John Emerson Alcott on April 2, 1927 in Port Credit at the age of 22. Stephen died in his 85th year on May 26 c. 1957. Sarah Ann Crowther nee Clough died September 12, 1955. Both are buried in St. John Church Cemetery in Dixie. Mabel's son, Ray, donated these clippings.
