Description : A newspaper clipping from the November 23rd, 1983 edition of The Mississauga News. The clipping is of an article about the history of the Gill's Store which was located on Dundas St in Dixie. The article shows a picture of the store in the 1900's and a picture of what was in the location in 1983, a Kentucky Fried Chicken. There is also an article above this which features a psychic answering teenagers questions about the future of computers.
Fonctions : This clipping was donated by Ray Alcott. John RAY Alcott was born April 27, 1939. He grew up in Mississauga attending Cooksville Public School and T.L. Kennedy High School. Ray hated school "with a passion" and recalls counting cars with friend, Lloyd Weeks of Lakeview. Ray quit school and moved to Streetsville to 31 Alphonse Crescent where he lived for six years. He married and worked for Cooksville Dodge and Desoto owned by Bill Braithwaite (son of fire chief). He later went into sales working for a Dominion Store in Applewood Acres, Dare Food, Liquid Air and Penner Trucks before retiring in 1996. He decided to move to Union in 2006 as Mississauga was getting too congested for him.
