Description :	Set sketch for TRUMPETS AND DRUMS. Design depicts an outdoor street scene with tree, stairs leading to a house, and a bench beneath a retail space.
Commentaires :	Herbert Whittaker directed and designed a 1963 production of TRUMPETS AND DRUMS, by Bertolt Brecht, presented by Trinity College at the University of Toronto. Herbert Whittaker (1910-2006) spent much of his life in the service of Canadian theatre. Beginning as a stage designer and director in Montreal, Whittaker became the theatre critic for The Globe and Mail from 1949-1975. He was the first national chairman of the Canadian Theatre Critics Association, founding chairman of the Toronto Drama Bench, an Officer to the Order of Canada, and founding chairman of Theatre Museum Canada.
