Description : Chair; wood. Original finish. Horseshoe shaped seat. 3cm from edge of seat wood becomes slightly raised. At edge of raised portion are rivets, unevenly spaced. The seat itself has many small round holes, wood loss, and what appears to be buckling. The back of the chair is constructed of two thicker pieces of wood, 3.7cm x 2.5cm, 40cm tall. Connecting these two pieces is a wide slat of wood, scalloped at top, smooth and rounded at bottom, and a smaller rounded piece near the seat. Running vertically between these two are three spindles. Middle one is uncarved, tapered at each end. Left and right are turned and heavily carved. Top back piece, centre, has an unidentifiable inlay, design worn off. The two front legs are straight; back two slope backwards and are continuous with backrest. Front legs are tapered and carved, with two turned connectors. Back legs smooth, curved, and uncarved, with one small straight connector. Back and front legs are attached by two small straight connectors on each side.
Commentaires : May have had a different finish previously, as this chair has been stripped and cleaned. Most likely would have been used in the kitchen as a side chair for a table.
Fonctions : With a kitchen/dining room table (side chair), or as an occasional chair.
