Description : | Metal cast on wood shield. Gold peacock against green and gold background with red and gold crown on top. Gold rope twist border with the name OUTREMENT and a crown on top. |
Commentaires : | The HMCS Outrement was commissioned as a Riverclass destroyer, at Quebec City on November 27, 1943. She arrived at Halifax on December and carried out working-up exercises in St. Margaret's Bay. She left St. John's on February 17, 1944, to join EG-6, Londonderry and served mainly on escort and partrol duties in U.K. waters. She was present on D-Day. She left the U.K. on November 30 for tropicalization refit at Sydney which kept her idle until August 20, 1945, only to be paid off November 5 and sold to Marine Industries Ltd. Later reacquired by the RCN and converted to Prestonian class escort she was recommissioned September 2, 1955 and served in a training role until finally paid off June 7, 1965 and broken up at La Spezia, Italy the following year. |
