Description : This is a French style row dory. The exterior of the dory has been painted(from top to bottom) green, yellow, white, and blue. These colors run horizontally across the body of the boat. The top edge of the dory has a trim og green and the interior of the dory is painted entirely blue. The dory has two oar locks on either side of the boat located approximately in the centre of the boat. Two paddles lay on the floor of the boat and a red throw line is coiled on the seat near the bow of the boat. There are four seats located vertically in the boat.
Commentaires : This model was patterned after the dories built by M. Emile Draier in St. Pierre. The Dranier factory built hundreds of these dories to meet the needs of the St. Pierre et Miquelon and the Newfoundland fishermen. Lamaline fishermen used the dories for approximately 50 years, before they acquired the Nova Scotian style dories. The French Row Dory was not crooked in the sheer (upper lengthwise profile) as the French motor flats whice are seen in St. Pierre today. Scale 1 5/8" to 1'.
