| Description : | A) one pair common blacksmith bolt tongs 20' long, factory made. B) one pair common blacksmith gad tongs 18' long, fake toy made. C) one pair blacksmith gad tongs with short jaws, 18' long home made. Items 'A' and 'B' are standard blacksmith tools still available at any wholesale hardware in Vancouver. It is doubtful if the style has changed since 1885 (not confirmed) so these articles perhaps could be used for display purposes in a reconstructed shop. Item 'c' is a pair of home-made tongs which only differ from 'b' in the visible marks of hand forging and the shorter jaws. Could be used as items 'a' and 'b' above. None of these tongs have historical significance and are suitable for furnishing use only. |
