Description : A circular colourless soda-lime (or soda) glass three-piece metal mould blown (moulded glassware) bottle. The undersurface of the artifact's base portion exhibits 'A 540:, 'S 25', 'TEACHER', and 'UGB' in embossed lettering. From the rounded heel area, the body portion rises vertically to a rounded shoulder segment. From here, a bulged neck-finish area extends up to a two-part finish segment which exhibits a 'V'- shaped string rim. The lip slants inward as it extends up to a circular bore. Note: Colourless glass requires silica (sand) that is almost free of iron, and a flux and a stabilizer without noticeable impurities. Embossing is the result of the use of full size moulds. The above description applies to the artifact as it appeared IN ITS ORIGINAL STATE. Subsequent to this, a 'Betts & Co' gin label was affixed to the body of the item, and the bottle was almost completely filled with methol hydrate. In addition, a cork (with gold coloured aluminum foil over its end) was inserted into the item's bore. Finally, this cork and foil have been securerd by a segment of twisted steel wire.
