Signification iconographique : | Moves to Medicine Hat 1934 to become Assistant Manager of restaurant and later owner of Confectionery. Moved back to Lethbridge 1935 to become assistant manager of Capitol Theatre in Lethbridge. Simultaneously also sales manager of Levitt Candy Factory. Enlists as Gunner in 112th Battery, 18th Field Brigade, Royal Canadian Artillery (non-permanent active militia) September 1939. Transfers to RCAF November 1940. BCATP training November 1940 to October 1941 in Brandon, Calgary, Regina, High River and Macleod receiving wings and becoming Sergeant October 1941. Embarks for England November 1941. Posted to Middle East August 1942. Flies operational missions out of Egypt and later Malta bombing Tobruk, Tripoli, Tunis and other targets in Libya, Tunisia and Sicily. Promoted to Flight Sergeant January 1943. May 1943 becomes test pilot out of Egypt and later Aden. Promoted to Pilot Officer December 1943 and finally Flying Officer April 1944. Returns to Canada January 1945. |
