| Description : | War bonnet with hide headpiece and beaded brow band. Brow band had a white background of glass seed beads with a series of five green triangles outlined in red glass faceted seed beads. Brow band is also outlined in red faceted seed beads. Rosettes at each end are of clear seed beads outlined in opaque white seed beads with a red centre. Strings of clear glass alternating seed and tube beads extend from behind the rosettes. Long rectangular pieces of green linen covered in red stroud extend from either side of headpiece. Series of 70 golden eagle feathers cover fabric extensions and headpiece. They are attached with leather strips bound in red stroud which also attaches an eagle feather and white plume to the leather strip. Stroud tubes at upper side of fabric extensions have three spots of white paste painted onto stroud. At tip of each crowning feather is a strand of blond human hair attached with a small round piece of ermine skin. Ermine skin strips extend from either side of headpiece. |
