Description : Shape based on flat pattern (a 2 piece flat-tipped crown). Appears almost like a cylinder with flat tip. Sideband at centre back is higher than at center front; tip opening smaller than headsize opening. Sideband made out of dark blue plain weave brushed wool fabric; stiff, thick white material weave (2 ply buckram ?) used as foundation fabric in sideband area; covered outside by dark blue wool fabric, inside by dark red striped cotton lining. Red wool fabric trimmed with metal silver colored lace at upper edge used as hat band; both come to point in front. Tip of black lacquered fabric; seam between tip and sideband covered by a red wool piping and black patent leather binding. Black headsize ribbon (black lacquered fabric) stitched to inside of shako at base of crown; black patent leather chin strap with slit at end attached to one side on domed shank buttons.
