Description : | Goblet of clear, non-flint glass. A facet-cut stem extends and expands over the goblet foot. In the bowl area, there are two horizontal bands of cord design containing a similar but curving band with the addition of suspended tassels. A smaller curving band decorates the lower area of the bowl. This was also made by The Labelle Glass Co., Bridgeport, Ohio, USA, c. 1872. It was designed, patented and named by Andrew H. Baggs, July 23, 1872 (patent No. 6002), assignor to the Labelle Glass Co. It was patented for a 3 1/2 year period. The Baggs patent expired in January, 1876 at which time the pattern became public domain, and was reissued by the Central Glass Co. Shards have been found at the site of the Burlington Glass Works, Hamilton, Ontario. (per Kathleen Campbell, Curator Emerita) |
