| Description : | A flat bottomed birchbark, cylindrical box with snug lid fitting flange. Walls are sturdy bark sewn and glued to base and both box and lid are lined with finer bark. Rim of box and lid are both ringed with grass sewn to them. Wall of box is quilled, quills extending over bottom to base. Lid is also similarly almost completely covered with quill work, with dyed quills in red and yellow forming criss-cross pattern on bare birchbark, and quills in brown and cream filling in the rest of the area. Very nicely done. |
